Our kits are curated for children ages 3-10 but can be enjoyed by all ages! Activities are designed with flexibility so siblings, mixed-development groups and parents can explore together.

Our Philosophy
What do you mean by “no-screen” play?
We design experiences that are tactile, creative, and movement-based—so kids learn through the natural rhythm of play, rather than through digital devices.
How do you ensure cultural authenticity?
Each kit is guided by our Culture Panel—a circle of educators, artists, and tradition keepers. Together we combine lived perspectives to ensure our storytelling and activities are authentic, respectful, and meaningful to spark interest, drive engagement and meaningful conversation.
Are your materials eco-friendly?
Yes! We prioritize recyclable, compostable, and sustainably sourced materials whenever possible. We’re always seeking ways to keep Root & Wander gentle on the planet.
Subscription & Flexibility
How does/will the subscription work?
Select your product and receive a new kit each month, or as a single play kit. Subscriptions are flexible—you can pause or cancel anytime, with no hidden fees or hoops to jump through to cancel.
Can I try just one box before subscribing?
Absolutely! You can order a single play kit as a one-time purchase to experience Root & Wander before signing up for our no obligation subscription.
Can I skip a month?
Totally— our subscriptions are built for busy, modern life. You can skip or pause on or before your play kit ships each month.

Safety & Practical Details
Are the materials safe for children?
All supplies are non-toxic, child-safe, and tested to meet safety standards. Adult supervision is recommended, no item should be ingested orally or otherwise unless where clearly stated.
Do I need to buy additional supplies?
Nope, scouts honor! Each kit includes everything you’ll need. On occasion, you may need a simple household item like scissors, tape, dirt/soil, water or other basic kitchen goods.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship across all U.S. states including Alaska and Hawaii (shipping delays may vary to non-continental US). And, we are actively exploring international shipping options, too!
When will my kit arrive?
Depending on your registration date, all kits should be shipped out by the 15th of each month and typically arrive within 3–5 business days.

Selections are guided by our Culture Panel and community voices. Our Culture Panel is a rotating group of tradition holders that educates us and holds us accountable to authenticity. We prioritize diverse perspectives, cultural experiences along seasonal rhythms, and marginalized voices —ensuring each kit is rooted in sparking curiosity, empathy and celebration of differences.
